Precautions when Helping a Victim

METOOnm_edited_edited.jpg

1. Assess the Situation

Think something that is best to do in that situation and how can you intervene without harming yourself otherwise the situation will escalate.

2. Direct Intervention

If it is SAFE, you can intervene and tell the harasser to stop or it is inappropriate.

If the HARASSER RESPOND, don’t mind him and interact with the victim.

3. Distraction

If you DON'T WANT TO INTERACT with the harasser you can distract him to put a stop the incident.

4. Find Someone to Support You

If you DON'T WANT TO GET INVOLVED, you can ask or find someone who can stop the activity.

5. Check in with the Person who's been Harassed

Harassment can happen quickly, and over in an instant.

6. Document the Incident

If someone has already intervened, YOU CAN DOCUMENT the activity. Sometimes knowing that they are being filmed is enough to stop the activity. After the activity is done you can ask the victim on what to do with the footage. DO NOT POST the video online unless the victim gave you PERMISSION to.
